Lea Meadow has exclusive rights to a large remote hunting area in northern Manitoba. Situated 116 air miles north of Thompson on the Churchill River system this area is only accessible by float plane. The distance from civilization and the costs of the flights, make this area prohibitive for resident hunting.
To further ensure that this area is not hunted we have an agreement with the Split Lake First Nations people that the hunter taking the moose will share a portion of the meat with the Split Lake Band, which goes to feed the elderly in the community. In turn they do not hunt or fish in the area and as a result our hunters have this vast area to themselves.
In the area that Lea Meadow has exclusive hunting rights for, the provincial record for a bow killed moose (210 5/8) was taken. As well the largest rifle and bow killed moose in Manitoba in two other consecutive years were shot in our area.
The primary focus of the hunt is the moose but your package also allows you to hunt for black bear and wolf which can be taken while you hunt for moose, or over baits once your moose is harvested. Fish at anytime for large northern pike and walleye in these untapped waters.
This area is pristine and virtually untouched as far as hunting pressure. We cater to only a small group of hunters and the area is extremely vast. This is one of the best moose areas that northern Manitoba has to offer and we have had both rifle and bow hunters in this camp.
Hunts are conducted in mid to late September & calling is the primary method of hunting. Boats are our main form of transportation to and from the hunting areas. Meals and accommodations are in our tent camps.
We have a crew of very experienced, professional, & personable guides that will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable hunt. Guide services are on a one to one basis for most of our hunts. Two on one guided hunts are also available at a lower price.
